What is FTP

“File Transfer Protocol (FTP) (Port 21) is a network protocol used to transfer data from one computer to another through a network, such as over the Internet.
FTP is a commonly used protocol for exchanging files over any TCP/IP based network to manipulate files on another computer on that network regardless of which operating systems are involved”

The Easy Way

The easiest way is to click the link that has been sent to you on the email, this link normally give access straight away, with very little effort
This link normally looks something like this (this is not a valid link)

The Known Problems

There are known problems with Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and the FTP protocol, these include not showing all files on the ftp site, not working at all, not allowing copying to the ftp site. There is no fix to this problem but the work around is to install and use a program called FileZilla more infomation is here

The Work Around

Download and install filezilla from click the recommended link
or get it from our server here (may be an older version)

How To Install

Open the downloaded file, simply continue pressing Next and OK with default settings to install.

How To Use

Run the program with the desktop icon or from Start > All Programs > FileZilla Client > FileZilla

This is as easy as filling in the first page correctly, to do this the account details are normally also included on the email like
FTP Link :
Username : ftpuser
Password: Pa55w0rd

otherwise you can still get the infomation you need from the easy link
ftp:// {Username}:{Password}@{Host}

Type these details into FileZilla as pictured below and click Quickconnect Button

Then all the remote files are listed under the Remote Site: area where you will be able to copy and replace (depending if you have been given write control / is the ftpuseradmin login)
